Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I thought researchers of the banjo and popular entertainment in NYC in particular will happy to know that the University of Illinois' Digitial Newspaper collection has placed all issues of The Clipper from 1853 to 1924 online with free access to all in nice downloadable organized PDFs fully searchable at this web site http://idnc.library.illinois.edu/cgi-bin/illinois?a=cl&cl=CL1&a...

Until now you had to go to either the Library of Congress which has an incomplete set, or the NYC performing arts library at Lincoln center with its broken microfilm machines, or another library in LA to get at even bad issues of The Clipper.

This is great news. Already found stuff and corrected stuff key to my work in just one day of working with this!

They also have a decent collection of Illinois and nearby papers elsewhere ont he site.   This site is open to anyone who goes there.  Amazing.

If only Lowell Schreyer had had this!
