Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Let's get off the beaten path of the tutors, and go to taht overlooked banjo stepchild...WINNER'S. This is from the New Amercian School Book...c.1883.

It is called the Spot Waltz. Tab later.

What is tuning, string by string, for this?

I see tuning is: eAEG#B (Converse?), one tone up from dGDF#A (Briggs?).

Correct?

Notation, tablature and *.tef file, for Spot Waltz, using tablEdit.

Jon, that's a good looking transcription.

Thanks Tim.

Question: why did you choose eAEG#B (which is Converse?) instead of  dGDF#A (Briggs?) - I suspect because the left hand fingering seems easier with the eAEG#B?

It lays well. 3 sharps....key of "A".....sure sign of it.
