This is a nice half-hour piece on Sam Lucas, a black entertainer who got his start in minstrelsy, and lived into the silent film era, playing the title role in a 1914 film production of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
It aired as part of KRCW's "American Music" series back in February, and I was happy to lend my recording of Buckley's 'Boston Jig' as background music for the production. There are also some very nicely performed samples of Lucas' music throughout, it's well worth a watch:
