Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Inspired by Tim's desire to put together a "Motor City" informal gathering for early banjo enthusiasts, I am pondering putting together an off-season event in November in the DC/MD/VA/WV corridor. It might be an event that doesn't necessarily focus exclusively on antebellum banjo, but also, perhaps, on violin/fiddle, percussion (bones, tambo, etc), guitar, accordion, other period instruments, and who knows, maybe even clogging and jig dancing. If I were able to establish a venue for such an event (I have a place in mind), might anyone here be in the area on the second weekend of November?

I'm suggesting the second week of November because the first weekend I'll hopefully be at the Banjo Collectors Gathering in Boston and the third weekend giving a banjo paper at the Society for Ethnomusicology conference in Philadelphia (which is also the same weekend as Remembrance Day in Gettysburg). The weekend after that is Thanksgiving.

So, those of you who are in the area, let me know your thoughts!

Best regards,

Greg

I'm in southern Pa., but I learned so much at AEBG that I'd welcome the opportunity.

Hi Greg, your Off season early Banjo........  sounds great and I wish it all the best, what a great mix of subjects, wish I could say I could attend.

Sylvia.
