Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Hi to all my Minstrel friends,

I hope that John and Tim don't mind this blatant plug ;-)

I have just launched a new "TIME MACHINE" on the classic banjo ning site and this contains a vast number of historic photos, many of Minstrel troups, blackface and whiteface even UK Pierrot Minstrel troupes from the 19th Century. There are too many to list, so please pop over and have a browse. I have cut and pasted the announcement I made to the CB ning members:

If you have not visited  http://classic-banjo.ning.com   recently you will not have seen several improvements and additions to the site.

We have a NEW  “Learn to Play” section where you can learn Classic Style banjo, with FREE video lessons and downloadable instruction sheets and tutorials.

We have a NEW “Frequently Asked Questions” page that explains all there is to know about the Classic Style of banjo playing.

We have a NEW AND TOTALLY FREE to download,

BANJO MUSIC SCORES LIBRARY

This now contains over 500 banjo scores, many with full piano and second banjo parts. We are currently adding audio and video files which can be played along with the scores too!

TODAY:  We have launched our NEW

“TIME MACHINE”

This is a slide viewer containing over 1000 historic banjo related photographs. The pictures date back to the earliest available photographs of the mid 1800s and show from the early Minstrel period right through to today.

“Largest collection of banjo related photographs”

available anywhere on the net !

MOST PAGES CAN BE VIEWED WITHOUT LOGIN,

BUT TO ACCESS THE: MUSIC SCORES LIBRARY

YOU  MUST LOGIN OR SIGN UP ON SITE.

BUT, IT IS TOTALLY:  FREE !

Thanks all,

Ian, thereallyniceman

You are doing some great things over there. Blowing us Minstrel guys away!! I really like what you have done with the scores. Congratulations. I'll dress up again and go pay you a visit soon.

Congrats on the amazing outputs, Ian. Something we can all emulate! You are a REALLY NICE MAN!!! Kudos!

Unbelieveable. Through the years, while I was fixing an old mandolin or banjo, I'd wonder about the old days. This is a very special collection. Thank you!!!!!!!!!
