Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Needed ASAP: Early banjo for film shoot near Philadelphia, PA (Saturday, 9/1/12)

Hello List:

I was contacted earlier today by a woman named LisaBeth Weber who is working on a film production where they need--this Saturday--an early banjo (reproduction) for filming. Basically, because of the short notice, they need someone who A) own a reproduction early banjo and B) live near Doylestown, PA (outside of Philadelphia)? It could be something like an early Boucher, a tackhead no-name banjo, or an early gourd banjo like Pete Ross builds?

I asked LisaBeth to write me a short statement about what she's looking for specifically and that I would post it here. This is what she provided:

<begin statement>

Wanted on very short notice (THIS Saturday, 9/1): An "early banjo" that we can borrow/rent for a film (great experience and we will also provide a film credit and thanks on our website.) It's for a scene in an 1848 slave quarters for a film atwww.thenorthstarmovie.com, currently in production in Doylestown, PA. Also possibly looking for a male African American in his 60's to play the banjo, but because of the short notice, the music may get dubbed in later. Based on true events, THE NORTH STAR tells the story of Big Ben Jones, a slave who escapes a Virginia plantation, runs north, and gets helped by Quakers right here in Bucks County. Starring Jeremiah Trotter, John Diehl, Keith David, Lynn Whitfield, and more. My name is LisaBeth Weber and I'm the Production Supervisor, Press/Media, and music wrangler. I'm also a singer/songwriter (www.lisabethweber.com). Thanks!

If you think you can help out, please let me know,

Greg
