Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

Hi, everyone. Here is a gourd banjo I recently completed as an offering from my new company, Stogie Strings (gourd banjos, cigar box guitars, diddley bows).

This one is now with its new owner, Dr. Robert Pura. The gourd is a canteen gourd, lightly stained. Neck is African mahogany with a maple fingerboard. Nylgut strings. Bone nut, bone and maple bridge, and maple tailpiece. The head stock is overlaid with Indian rosewood.

While fretless, I did use a banjo fret ruler from Stew Mac to place side dots on the neck to help with fingering. Finish was three coats of Tung oil. Overall, a really fun build. Questions and comments are of course welcomed.
