Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

What first tune do you play at a gig to settle the nerves? I always like starting with Buffalo Gals.

You need nerve-settling(?) or do you mean that's what you use to help settle my nerves?

>>>What first tune do you play at a gig to settle the nerves?<. Probably Foggy Mountain Breakdown. ;-)

My favorite to start with is definitely Yellow Rose of Texas.

Yes, that should work as you tend to arrive about 3 minutes late.

That tune does not settle the nerves. it's sort of....exciting.

On Sunday I played solo at my diner brunch gig. On such occasions I usually start with Walk in the parlor Jig / Boston Jig. I play them on auto-pilot, so it's a good place to start.

Often it will be Camptown Hornpipe or Cotton Pod Walk Around.  Sometimes Ober de Mountain.

Playing solo I often begin with Johnny Boker.

Yea, that one is a good one to settle in with.
