Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

I am seeking information about what happened to a character billed as "Banjo Dick Brown" or "Dick Brown, the Banjo King" who was active in the 1860's, 1870's and 1880's. He gained some notoriety in November 1876 when he shot and killed a man who interrupted his act at Deadwood by throwing an axe on stage. (Brown's assailant was the former common-law husband of his wife.) The last positive mention of him that I have located places him at Portland, Oregon,  in 1891 when he was using the name Ira Brown.

Any information on his fate would be most welcome. Thanks.
