It is still being worked out, as Tim suggests. I think part of the way we'll end up doing it will be, in part, determined when we are all together as a large group and we can determine the general tone of people's needs and interests and what makes the most sense. The big thing is that, based on suggestions people make last year, we want to make sure that we have some designated sessions for people to specifically "break out" to explore techniques and repertoire and not just listen to…

I think part of the way we'll end up doing it will be, in part, determined when we are all together as a large group and we can determine the general tone of people's needs and interests and what makes the most sense. The big thing is that, based on suggestions people make last year, we want to make sure that we have some designated sessions for people to specifically "break out" to explore techniques and repertoire and not just listen to lectures. The other aspect of the event, as I hope people will notice, is that on Saturday and Sunday we are always alternating between 45 minute formal sessions and 45 minute free time for jamming, mentoring, and collaborating. These breakout sessions should dovetail into those open times so that people are really building their skills as well as social networks.
I can't help you with a 'gene…tag:minstrelbanjo.ning.com,2014-06-15:2477478:Comment:1140002014-06-15T21:22:56.613ZStrumeliahttps://minstrelbanjo.ning.com/profile/Strumelia

I can't help you with a 'general opinion' Tim, but my personal preferences tend to run this way-

I love hands-on workshops where people get to physically practice a skill that's being taught. I see there's a bones presentation- will that be a workshop, or will there be actual bones teaching as well at some other time during the weekend? I'll bring my bones and hope to pick up some help. I can't see any workshop being able to do very much in 15 minutes, so splitting that mentoring session equally within the 45 minutes seems problematic to me. On the other hand, I'd hate to have to choose amongst those 3 wonderful mentoring offerings if they were taking place at the same time. :( Personally, I'd love to see an equal mix of skill-building workshops and informational presentations. :)

Thanks Mike. I am a bit up in the air. My latest plan is to drive to Frederick on Thursday and get a motel. Then make it into Baltimore easily in the morning, and camp Friday. If I drive to Sharpsburg, I would most likely be setting up my tent in the dark with lots of bugs.
