I loved this Scott.  Boy, i think it'd be easy to mix up those two parts when playing!

I love the gourd banjer, it always sounds more intimate and textured.  You and I both have Menzies gourds!

So nice, and I agree with Strumelia on gourd banjos in general. I became aware of gourd banjos when I first began to learn to wire strung banjo ... the timbre of the gourd was so different to my ears with respect to wire strung banjos, that it just did not fit my paradigm of what a banjo sounded like!  Years later, I learned to play the “hoop rim” Minstrel banjo and I was moving closer. Finally I learned to play a gourd banjo and now it is my favorite banjo sound! My “banjo paradigm” is 180 degrees from where it started. And, yes, your gourd banjo sounds beautiful Scott!
