I may be strange (likely), but I really like the way Juba works on the pipes.
It strikes me that several other banjo tunes would work well -- Briggs' version of Hard Times, for example. If you ever try it, please post.

Considering how many Irish and Scots tunes are in the tutors, perhaps we've overlooked a source of repertoire -- bagpipe tunes. Perhaps the Glasgow Police Pipers or the Athol Highlanders...

Loved it!

There are a thousand-plus bagpipe tunes awaiting the banjo...

A friend and I used to do bagpipes and banjo together - in hopes that they'd cancel each other out.

Ms Judy and Uncle Funky, thank you so much. We have been cracking up for the past week over your public service announcements.

Is commenting enough to bring it up again?

I can't find the first one (Pledge Break #1) anywhere. Seems to have disappeared into cyber-limbo.

The Atholl Highlanders maps pretty directly to the banjo neck! I worked on it a little bit a few years ago. That initial run of descending notes was tricky to play stroke style... I should revisit it guitar style.

The Atholl Highlanders is a great tune. Most highland pipe tunes fit pretty neatly - they never have a range of more than nine notes - since that's all they've got.

I always have loved this.  This is a reminder that I have paid for this website for the next year.  If you would like to help contribute to the continuation of this site, please click on the "Donate" tab and, as the Bells have said, "send $$$."  Thank you one and all.

Hey Ian, is there a place online you can point me to, to access simple standard notation melodies of some of those nine note pipe tunes?   They might be just the thing for my tabor pipe practice!  Thanks
