Benteen published it in 1846, but we got it from our fiddler whose family has been playing it for generations.

Thanks for the source.  I think I've seen the title before but didn't recognize the tune.  Very likely, there are/were more than one "Evening Star Waltz"....After typing the previous sentence, I checked and found another "Evening Star Waltz" in the Home Circle (1859) and again in "Foster's Social Orchestra" (1854), both of those are the same but differ from the one you are playing.
