Great banjos and photos Ed!!! You and your friends look great. The banjo you are holding in this photo is a Hartel reproduction of Bob Winans' 'no-name' banjo. Great banjo, great inlays! Would love to hear you guys play some time.

Hi Greg - I commisioned Jim to make the Winan banjo after I saw it at the Katonah Museum of Art exhibit in 2004. The hardware is original 19th c. I hope we can make it out East again.

If you come to the Early Banjo Gathering in August, please do bring as many of your fine instruments as you can. They are wonderful. I've played several of Hartel's repros (I own one of his Ashborns), but have not had the chance to play one of his Winans 'no-names.' I was at the Katonah Exhibit during the Banjo Collectors Gathering. Were you there for that?
