Minstrel Banjo

For enthusiasts of early banjo

In case anyone is interested:

Interesting how he advises planting the pinky down on the head to play... classic banjo style?

Also, his advise on where to get strings using some made for banjo and others made for violin- weren't banjo string sets commonly available by that time?

Does anyone have a scanned sample of what one of the pages of music looked like in this book?

Hi Strumelia, here is a link to a scanned copy.   http://www.banjothimble.com/The_Stewart_Collection_files/Minstrel%2...

Thanks John, I was hoping an online scanned version would be there somehwere.    :)

Might be missing the last part though- sort of ends in mid air...

I think it is complete, or at least *almost* complete.  The tutor had a brief section about putting on a minstrel show that was followed by music and another section with a brief autobiography of SS Stewart and a pitch for his banjos.
