I am thinking it would be fun to update the city slicker’s questions in Arkansas Traveler to queries about Starbucks proximity, WiFi availability, etc. Any good jokesters our there??

Briggs is mostly dGDF#A. (We call this low tuning). Some of the pieces in Briggs are dADF#A (we call this high tuning). My advice is to just start with Briggs and practice the ENTIRE book. You will be a reader very quickly because you will encounter only two keys ... one sharp (G) or two sharps(D). Then, in 6 months, or a year from now, you can graduate yourself to the later books, and the the tuning will change. Everything will be higher by one whole step. It’s just another hill to climb. No…

No big deal. But for now just confine yourself to Briggs. They are really all great tunes. Just stick with Briggs. Its what most of us did I think. Download the original book (it’s free). Read directly from the original source. You’ll have a blast! It’ll be a lot of fun! Ya, you betcha.
Okay, I found Tim Twiss’ yellow Converse, and I have printed it out to use easily. It is nice and clean and easy to read. I kind of know the tunes from the Weidlich book, so I am playing off the notes and working out my brain a bit to get in the groove of reading notation. Thanks, Tim! Green Converse will be next, because it has tunes I am not so familiar with, to challenge my note reading. A Briggs in A would be super nice to have, too!

Thanks, everyone for responding to this…

Briggs in A/E will be a wonderful. We can add this to the list of gifts Tim has given us. Tim, was it you who created a straight version of the Yellow converse in standard notation? I can't remember where I found the PDF, but I use it all the time.
