Prolly a silly question about singing with your banjo

Pardon my ignorance...

I have lately been trying to sing while playing. I have a fairly deep voice. I was always told it would be good for radio.

Does it make sense that it is easier for me to sing over A/E than G/D. My voice just bleeds into the notes when I am in G/D.

And does this void me of ever being able to share the joy of singing along to the banjo while someone plays the fiddle?
