Personally, I'm starting by trying to organize the large amount of banjo stuff I've gathered in the last 10 years....photos, videos, recordings, text etc. At least try to get them into one spot on one hard drive with some sort of label to them Right now, I have 300 G and 14,000 items going into a huge external drive. It's nice to have a lot of stuff, but it is useless unless you can access it. I have some crazy good stuff.....including things from all the AEBG. I am a packrat with media, and just kept piling it up.

Since I made my banjo with a smaller scale length I have been really asserting myself on the banjo. Finally finding the logic behind the physics of the fingers interactions with the strings. Lots of aha moments last year.
So my goals for this year are small but should do me well. I want to learn to read standard notation (i used to play sax so its in there somewhere), I want to get thru first Buckley and green converse books and I want some fancy duds.
I also want to build more banjos, should be finishing up one this weekend. Trying to stay on top of my finances so I can swing a Menzies class if he does one again in CA.
And in a more global sense I am focusing on what I have and what I can do with it instead of what I need. I am kind of a hoarder diguised as a collector and really need to stop wasting money on random crap.
In short, make more, play more, play better :)

Learn new tunes, consolidate old tunes, and hopefully make a few halfway decent recordings after I figure out how to use the equipment santa's elf left under the tree...

Formost for me is improving my playing. I would also like to get involved with a couple of local historic sites (Manassas National Battlefield Park, and Chapman's Mill) doing presentations on early banjo and the music that may have been heard there.

Paul, I'll bet Santa's elf left that under the tree with a suppressed interest in joining you with some of your recordings.
For me, I'd just like to learn to feel comfortable playing in public! How do I get there?!?

I just watched your Womens Rights mazurka, you sure have no need to not feel comfortable. You have good tone and deft fingers. I know that doesn't help much just me saying so,,, but really you sound good. Make more vids, that is the easiest way. Or just go sit somewhere and play what you know best. You got the stuff, the comfort will just naturally fall into place. I get nervous sometimes too. but don't let it hold you back.Steve
